First Friday Facts

  • In the United States, 1 in 6 children is food insecure, meaning they do not know when their next meal is coming.
  • Around the world, nearly 1 billion people, or 1 in 7,  suffer from hunger.
  • Poor people spend upwards of 75% of their income on food, so rising food prices hit them the hardest.

These are just a few statistics, but they are so relevant to cause of First Fridays for Food Security.

Green America has put together this list of 9 ways to go local with your food, which would add a fun twist to the First Friday project by “thinking globally and acting locally”!
