Blissfully Aware: Candy recipe!

When worried about pleasing others…bring candy.

On my birthday, I had to lead a meeting that I feared could be quite contentious. So, I came prepared with many talking points, statistics, and homemade fair trade and organic….peanut butter cups!

This lovely lady provided the inspiration for my Blissfully Aware version of this yummy treat.

Blissfully Aware Peanut Butter Cups:

Take the first three ingredients (powdered sugar, peanut butter, and butter) in a big bowl and mix away. Sparingly, add the milk one tablespoon at a time. This will soon become  dough.  Mold into shapes of your liking (eggs, cups, balls, etc) &  place in the freezer for about an hour.

To melt the chocolate, use a double broiler on the stove and add shortening. Or, microwave the chocolate and shortening together in 30 second increments until melted. Then dip each egg (after being in the freezer) in the melted chocolate and place on waxed paper. The Whimsical Princess‘ tip was to use a skewer and then slide the dipped egg of and cover the hole. Works well!

Time: 30 mins prep, overall 2 hours.

Makes: Roughly 3 dozen

There now. We can snack on delicious treats, aware that our decisions do have repercussions in the world. We made better choices, supported decisions we liked, and had the joy of making a famous candy.

If I can make fair trade and organic chocolate goodies…I think the big guys should too! I plan on bringing these to some of my corporate meetings…. 🙂 These are more motivating  than a stick, and dare I say tastier than an ol’ carrot!

***Personal Disclaimer: Please note, no outside body certified these goodies, nor are they 100% organic or fair trade, but every ingredient that was available in this way was sourced as such.***
